Jill Duggar Addresses Claims She Missed Jana’s Wedding Over Alleged Tension

It’s safe to assume that nobody anticipated this in the kingdom of the Duggars, where courtships result in speedy marriages and modesty is king. Last week, Jana Duggar—often referred to as the “Cinderella Duggar” due to her unwavering single status and unwavering devotion to her family’s home—took her wedding.

That’s correct, people! Following years of conjecture that she would be doomed to be unmarried forever, Jana tied the knot with Steven Wissmann. Naturally, there had to be some drama at a Duggar event, and this time it revolved around Jill Dillard’s unexplained absence from the wedding photos.

At First, Fans Thought Jill Wasn’t Invited

When perceptive fans realized that Jill, who has grown more estranged from her father, Jim Bob Duggar, wasn’t in any of the wedding photos that Jana and her entourage had published, rumors began to circulate faster than the Duggar children could bear another child.

Fans were quick to speculate if Jill had been excluded from the guest list entirely because of her history of animosity against the Duggar patriarch after her candid book revealed the family’s darkest secrets.

And there’s the whole Jill and Jana thing. The sisters were once as close as two Duggar daughters could get (Jana was even Jill’s maid-of-honor at her wedding ten years ago), but with the controversy surrounding Jill’s book, many began to wonder if Jill was being kept out of the festivities due to a falling out with her sister.

To Clarify the Rumors, Jill Shared Pictures From the Wedding

Rest assured, though—Jill was not banished to the Duggar doghouse. She finally spoke up on Tuesday, confirming that she was really there for her sister’s wedding. Jill dispelled the accusations by sharing a video reel on Instagram that included images and footage of her and husband Derick Dillard grinning with the radiant bride and groom.

Jill clarified in the comments that her three children attended the pre-wedding supper with the family the evening before, despite their inability to attend the ceremony. There seemed to be a shortage of space because the facility could only hold 500 people.

Jill made it very evident to anyone who was unsure about her commitment to her sister in the comments section, saying, “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”

Jill kindly replied, “Yes, we were invited to attend,” in response to a follower who asked if she was there. She made a stunning bride. We hope the best for them.

There were other surprising guests at the wedding besides Jill and Derick. Nobody was surprised when a number of the cast members of Counting On and 19 Kids & Counting made an appearance. But when Anna Duggar appeared, everyone’s jaws dropped—minus her jailed husband, Josh, of course.

Talk about Anna’s presence was common, especially because she and six of her seven children were oddly missing from the large Duggar family portrait. There’s nothing quite like some Duggar family strife to liven up a wedding, is there?

Not just the guest list for Jana’s wedding was grabbing news. The bride defied a number of ingrained Duggar customs, making her wedding a real Cinderella story. First of all, Jana looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder gown that was a far cry from the traditional looks typically worn by Duggar brides.

Forget about the chapel; instead, Jana chose an event venue where she and her new husband had a “first dance,” a tradition unprecedented in the Duggar family.

Now that the wedding bells are but a fond memory, Steven and Jana are prepared to begin their new life in Nebraska, where Steven works for his family’s company. To make it their own, the couple has already bought a fixer-upper.

Even though Jana is still enrolled in nursing school, it remains to be seen if she will pursue her studies now that she is no longer available for hire.
