Bennett and Lil Durk, actual name Durk Derrick Banks, were detained in June 2019 in connection with an Atlanta shooting. In a Fulton County courthouse, Bennett and his co-defendant Banks stood before the judge for a probable cause hearing. On February 5, 2019, near a well-known drive-in, the two rappers allegedly robbed and shot Alexander Witherspoon, according to the prosecution. Durk was released from jail after several weeks on a $250,000 bond, while Von was freed on a $300,000 bond.
The Chicago Police concluded in July 2021 that Bennett was the shooter who killed 17-year-old Gangster Disciples member Gakirah “K.I.” Barnes in April 2014, but they were unable to charge him because of contradictions in witness accounts.
