Career

In 2012, Aiko met No I.D., a musician and vice president of A&R at Def Jam. Through Def Jam, No I.D. signed Aiko to his Artium Records label. Aiko released the song “3:16 AM” as a digital download on iTunes on September 4, 2012. The song was included in the album’s first single, Sail Out. In 2012, Aiko launched the eagerly awaited “Life Is Good/Black Rage” concert tour, which also included American superstars Nas and Lauryn Hill.

Personal Life
Aiko was baptized at the evangelical Pentecostal Foursquare Church when she was 16 years old. Between 2005 and 2008, she was linked to American R&B musician O’Ryan. On November 19, 2008, Aiko, then 20 years old, gave birth to their daughter with O’Ryan. Aiko recorded “For My Brother” on her laptop before her brother Miyagi passed away on July 19, 2012, as a result of cancer.
It was initially only intended for her brother’s ears. He passed away shortly after playing the record. Aiko, her daughter Namiko, sister Miyoko, and Namiko’s father O’Ryan were all injured in a car accident on August 27, 2013, in Los Angeles. Aiko needed sutures for a fractured wrist, damaged tooth, and chin.
The incident had no effect on her daughter. Aiko and Oladipo “Dot da Genius” Omishore made their union official on March 16, 2016. Aiko filed for divorce in writing on August 9, 2016, alleging irreconcilable differences. The divorce was eventually formalized in October 2017.
