New Business Herald corrects errors openly. We would rather carry a visible correction than leave an inaccurate claim standing, and we do not quietly edit published work to remove mistakes.
How to report an error
Email admin@newbusinessherald.com with the word Correction in the subject line. Please include:
- The URL of the article.
- The specific claim you believe is wrong, quoted directly.
- What you believe the correct information is, and a source for it if you have one.
You do not need to be the subject of an article to request a correction. We assess every request on the evidence, regardless of who raises it.
How we respond
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days and to resolve them within five business days. Where a claim requires checking against a primary source that takes longer to obtain, we will say so rather than let the request go silent.
How corrections appear
We distinguish three levels of change:
- Correction — a factual error that affected the meaning of the article. The text is fixed and a dated correction notice is appended to the foot of the article explaining what was wrong and what it now says.
- Clarification — the original was defensible but ambiguous or open to misreading. The wording is sharpened and a dated note explains the change.
- Update — the facts themselves have changed since publication, for example a rate, threshold or standard has been revised. A dated update note is added; the original is not treated as an error.
Correction and clarification notices are permanent. We do not remove them once applied, and we do not delete articles to resolve a complaint about their accuracy.
Significant errors
Where an error was serious enough to have materially misled readers — for example a wrong figure central to the article’s conclusion — the correction notice is placed at the top of the article rather than the foot, and the headline is amended if the headline itself was inaccurate.
Typographical fixes
Spelling, punctuation and formatting fixes that do not change meaning are made without a notice.
